The Cake-Hunters: An Introductory Post

Well hello there, fellow cake enthusiasts! My name is Bri and I'll be your cake tour guide today.

Before we get into our cake finding adventures, I feel it would be appropriate to introduce myself and my cake hunting team, and what we plan on doing for the rest of 2014.

My mom had seen some of these cakes hanging around St. Louis and took some cutesy pictures of them with my step-siblings. Then, we realized it was an actual thing. If you are interested in the thing, take a look over here. For the lazy, basically St. Louis turns 250 years old in 2014, so to celebrate, artists decorated 250 cakes and they were placed in and around St. Louis. There is an app for this adventure in cake finding, although my personal experiences with it so far have not been the best. Just search STL250 in the app store and it'll pop right up. Join us in our hunt to see all 250 cakes before they're taken down at the end of the year!

And by "join us," I of course mean me and my cake hunting team! Our team consists of me, my mom, my step-dad, my sister, and three of my step siblings. Plus some guests along the way.

Bri and Debbie
Bri (me): I am nineteen years old and a comm major at Truman State University. I'm home for the summer, and this cake hunting thing is how I'm going to spend my spare time, since I'm broke and this is free (other than gas, which unfortunately is the opposite of free). I'm pretty ecstatic. When not hunting for cakes or doing school-y things, I like Netflixing and playing Settlers of Catan. I'm also a big fan of Snapchat, and if you'd like to follow our search for four foot tall fiberglass pastries, feel free to follow my Snapchat story under the username brilongg.

Debbie (my mom): Fortunately for me, my mom's pretty cool. She'd probably kill me if I posted her age, so let's just assume she's 24. She likes knitting and various other crafty things. The two of us together are ridiculously excited about these cakes. She uses the app and collects the "points" on it. Pretty nifty.

Jason and Debbie
Jason/Sharkie (my step-dad): Married my mom last year around this time. We make him drive us to the cakes because he knows the St. Louis area a little better than we do. Plus it gives us time to be on the lookout for cakes in the area. I appreciate Jason so much (and his seven-seater vehicle)!
Kelby, Emily, and Zaach

And then there's my sister, Kelby, and three of my step-siblings, Casey, Emily, and Zaach, who are 15, 14, 10, and 7 respectively. We're not always all present for each cake mission, but that's our team!

I can't wait to see where our cake hunting adventures take us this year!
